If you read part one, here's the continuation and the blue bonnets! What a spectacular site they were! My daughter and I traveled from Ft Worth to the middle Texas area to a small little rural town, known as Burnette.
The entire week was planned out around this loop for the best viewing of the blue bonnets! It was incredible! My daughter did enjoy this! There were parts of the trip she wasn't pleased with, such as, all the driving and long days an lack of internet and phone service in many areas in south Texas!
The trip was quite a drive to Burnette, and we stayed the night in a cheap little Best Western. There weren't a lot of accommodation options here and I was trying to stay on a budget for some of our splurges the remainder of the trip. Needless to say, my daughter didn't like the non-modern motel with parking by the outside door. It was safe and clean and served the purpose for a place to lay our heads and I'd stay again or recommend if you don't have to have luxury accommodations. It was nostalgic to me and reminded me of trips with my family as a kid. I did make up for this later on in the trip!
Back to the blue bonnets! We got up early and drove the loop for hours and most all of the day! Most of the drive was a two-lane road and in areas a one lane road where you might drive over small creeks or even get to see the cattle in the road. It was AMAZING! Beautiful countryside! No noises except those of nature and peaceful. Very few cars other than us. And simply one of the most beautiful scenes! I'd imagined this for years! We were fortunate and this particular year was a great bloom due to rains earlier in the year and they were peak during our visit! We drove and talked for hours and got to watch the sunset! I could share photo after photo but will highlight a few of my favorites. If you get the opportunity to go this quaint little town and see the blue bonnets, please do!
We ended another adventurous day with a magnificent sunset and drove about an hour area for dinner at an upscale area on the water! Stay tuned for part 3! It's my second favorite part of the trip!
